Looking ahead to Flinders Islet Race

The 2023/24 Audi Centre Sydney Blue Water Pointscore continues on Saturday 23 September, with the 88 nautical mile Flinders Islet Race.

A fleet of 31 boats will take on the sprint from Sydney Harbour down to Flinders Islet (approximately 1nm east off Port Kembla Harbour) and back.

Very light winds look set to usher the fleet out of the heads when the race starts at 10am on Saturday, and a mix of wind growing to 20-25knots looks set to greet the boats off the coast of Wollongong for the afternoon.

The race for Line Honours looks set to play out between John Winning Jnr’s Andoo Comanche and – the overall winner 2023  Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race – and Anthony Johnston’s Reichel/Pugh 72 URM Group (skippered by Marcus Ashley-Jones).

Last year URM Group enjoyed a great contest with Sean Langman’s Moneypenny.

The race for Line Honours looks set to play out between John Winning Jnr’s Andoo Comanche and – the overall winner 2023 Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race – and Anthony Johnston’s Reichel/Pugh 72 URM Group (skippered by Marcus Ashley-Jones).

There are six two-handed boats including; Blue Planet, Imalizard, Jupiter, Mistral, Rum Rebellion
and Tumbleweed.

Disko Trooper Contender_Sailcloth, and Verite will be be sailed fully crewed.

Still to come after this race are the Tollgate Islands Race (Friday 13 October), Bird Island Race (Saturday 11 November), Cabbage Tree Island Race (Friday 1 December) and Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race (Tuesday 26 December).
