Corinthian Spirit
Geoff Hill is the well-known owner of the Santa Cruz 52 Antipodes and he is a living embodiment of the Corinthian Spirit. An amiable merchant banker and terrific advocate for the sport, Hill was first inspired to start sailing after watching Alan Bond win the America’s Cup in 1983. Hill has now done all of the iconic races including Newport, Bermuda, and a Rolex Fastnet race, as well as having had the experience of being overall winner on Love & War in the 2006 Rolex Sydney-Hobart.

Rupert Henry & Greg O'Shea to contest Noakes Sydney Gold Coast
Prize-winning sailor Rupert Henry is a brave and modest man. In the tradition of Jacques-Yves Cousteau, he gives the impression of being an ingenious and pioneering sailor. The sort of character you might meet in an Adventures of Tintin novel. Last year he set off single-handed in the Route du Rhum on an ill-fated mission. Still the story of him busting a boat in the Atlantic Ocean is a kind of anomaly in his career.

Daniel Edwards first to sign up for Noakes Sydney Gold Coast
From social sailor to passionate ocean racer, Daniel Edwards was trained as an architect, but gets excited about getting sailing with mates on the weekend. This year he was the first entrant to the Noakes Sydney Gold Coast, and he says he’ll use this fact to encourage others from his club to sign up.

Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race 2023 opens Audi Blue Water Point Score
Entries have now opened for the 37th Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race, hosted by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA). Competitors will start the challenging 384NM offshore race on Sydney Harbour at 1pm (AEST) Saturday 29 July, before heading up the NSW coast to finish off Main Beach on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
