Shane Connelly now owns Local Hero, which is coming up for its eighth Rolex Sydney Hobart.  Shane has campaigned Local Hero in this year’s CYCA Summer Series, Audi Centre Sydney Winter Series, JPK Pacific Two Handed Series and Audi Centre Sydney Blue Water Series in preparation for the 75th Sydney Hobart.  Her previous owner Chris Matthews bought Local Hero from long-time owner Peter Mosely in 2016 and finished the Rolex Sydney Hobart 29th overall.  The BH36 did her first Sydney Hobart as Local Hero XII (skippered by Geoff Howison, a business partner of the boat’s designer, Iain Murray and builder, the late Ian Bashford) and was 14th overall.  In 1996, entered by next owner, Kevin Wood, she finished 35th.
