Profile
Katwinchar first raced in the Sydney Hobart in 1951, a race from which it was forced to retire. New owner Bill Barry-Kotter is bringing the boat back to contest the 75th anniversary race, and is competing in the Cabbage Tree Island Race as its qualifying race. With a crew that includes 42 Hobarts veteran Michael Spies, along with Robert Case, himself a 34 race veteran, and Murray Spence who was on board Alfa Romeo when it was the line honours winner in the 2009 Rolex Sydney Hobart, Katwinchar comes to the start brimming with experience.
