How did the boat and crew go in the first afternoon?

“The crew was great, and new co-skipper Zac West fitted in like a glove. Conditions were perfect for a reach, so we hoisted the Code 0, filled the water ballast and went for an express ride down the coast. Jupiter performed beautifully.”

You were pretty far offshore last night. Was that the aim?

“Going offshore was our strategy. In the lead-up, the forecast showed strong current running down the coast, although the last few days suggested it would be weaker. But we found three and a half knots heading exactly where we wanted to go, so we jumped on the superhighway and blitzed the fleet to Jervis Bay. At one stage we were first overall in IRC, PHS and Two-Handed! It’s a long race, but it’s a bit of fun watching the standings as you go.”
